Find answers instantly with Ask Sam
Learn how to use Ask Sam, our in-app AI assistant. It answers questions about how AtomicSam works, so you can find information without leaving your page.
This guide explains how to use Ask Sam to get instant answers to your questions about the platform. This helps your team find information quickly without asking an admin or searching the help center.
Ask Sam is a chat assistant that lives inside AtomicSam. It uses our library of help articles to answer questions in plain language. Instead of searching for an article, your team can ask a direct question and get an immediate response.
Before you start
- A staff member with Platform Admin permissions must enable Ask Sam for your organization.
Enable Ask Sam for your organization
Ask Sam is turned off by default. A Platform Admin needs to enable it before it becomes available to your team.
- Navigate to Platform Admin โ App Admin โ Ask Sam Settings.
- Turn on the Ask Sam enabled switch.
The Ask Sam chat bubble will appear for every staff member in your organization the next time they load a page.
๐ก Tip: If a staff member does not see the chat bubble after you enable it, ask them to refresh their browser. The setting can take up to 60 seconds to apply.
Ask a question
Once enabled, you can open Ask Sam from any page.
- Click the chat icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The Ask Sam panel will open.
- Type your question into the text field at the bottom of the panel.
- Press Enter to send your question.
Ask Sam reviews your question and provides an answer based on our help articles. Below each answer, it includes links to the source articles it used, so you can click through for more context.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: Do not paste sensitive client information into Ask Sam. Your conversations are private, but you should treat any AI assistant as a third-party service.
Good to know
- Ask Sam answers questions using our public help articles only. It cannot see your organization's private data, such as your jobs, clients, or invoices.
- You can ask questions in your own words. For example, "Why can't I send this invoice?" works just as well as searching for "invoice workflow statuses".
- Ask Sam is a great training tool for new staff members. It helps them build confidence by answering their questions as they learn the platform.
- If Ask Sam responds with "I don't know", it often highlights a gap in our help content. Please let your admin or our support team know so we can create the missing article.
