Choose an industry template for your organization
Learn how to select an industry template when you first set up your AtomicSam organization, or change it later. A template pre-configs terminology to match how your industry works.
This guide explains how to choose an industry template for your organization. The right template helps AtomicSam feel familiar by using terms and workflows common in your industry.
An industry template applies a set of default terminology to your organization. While the core features of AtomicSam remain the same, labels on buttons, fields, and navigation items change to match what your team is used to. For example, a Job in one template might be called a Project in another.
Before you start
- You must have Admin permissions to change your organization’s industry template.
Compare industry templates
You choose a template during the initial setup of your organization. Each template is designed to provide a better starting point for a specific type of business. If you are not sure, you can start with General Services.
| Template | Best for | Key Terminology |
|---|---|---|
| General Services | Most service-based businesses like repair, maintenance, and logistics. | Uses standard AtomicSam terms like Job and Quote. |
| Construction | Builders, contractors, and tradespeople. | Renames Jobs to Projects and Quotes to Bids. |
| Creative Agency | Marketing, design, and advertising firms. | Renames Jobs to Projects and Quotes to Proposals. |
| Consulting | Professional services, business advisors, and IT consultants. | Renames Jobs to Engagements and Quotes to Statements of Work. |
Change your industry template
You can change your template at any time, but it's best to decide on one early. Changing it later can cause confusion if your team is already used to the existing terminology.
- Navigate to Settings → Organization Details.
- Scroll down to the Industry Template section.
- Select a new template from the dropdown menu.
- A confirmation window appears. Read the summary of changes carefully.
- To confirm, click Save Changes. The new terminology is applied to your organization immediately.
⚠️ Heads up: Changing your template affects all staff members in your organization. The change happens instantly. We recommend letting your team know before you switch.
Good to know
- Changing your template only updates the default terminology. It does not change the names or data of existing Jobs, Quotes, or other records you have already created.
- Any custom field labels you have configured in your settings will not be overwritten by a template change.
- All your core data, such as clients, time entries, invoices, and expenses, remains safe and is not affected by this change.
ℹ️ Good to know: If no template feels quite right, choose General Services. You can then visit Settings → Terminology to customize individual field labels and create a setup that's perfect for your business.
